Today was the day, she would never again wait
At the gate hoping to see him, today she was bait.
Stood in his path, she passed the time, a train
Whistled in the distance, as if to scream out her agonising pain.
Before long he appeared, hurrying along, at quite a gait,
But he stopped when he saw her, the girl with her hair in a plait.
Leaning against the sun warmed wall they spoke until the rain
Began to fall, never again would their hearts be in twain.
Together forever; beautiful like the rainbow that followed the rain.
