Ruby

They’re like rubies,
Little pendants threatening
To drop, smash into oblivion.
Leaving only shards.

It doesn’t hurt anymore,
It doesn’t even disgust me
To see the swelling gems.

It’s nice to know
That I am hot blooded after all,
I’m not blue, not cold.

For what is blood anyway,
But rivers of rubies beneath
Our skins?
